frequently asked questions

How do I secure my date? How much is the retainer fee?

To secure your date all I need is a $1,000 non-refundable deposit and signed contract. I work on a first come, first served basis. If parents are helping pay for your event, I ask they sign the contract as well. That way everyone knows what to expect.

Who is the second photographer at the wedding? (this, assuming you’re the first…correct?)

Yes, I will be the main photographer. My second photographer varies; I pick from a small pool of  awesome professionals who own their own wedding businesses.  They must have a similar style to mine so you can't tell who took what.

We aren’t very comfortable in front of the camera. Help!

No worries! I'M not comfortable in front of a camera. Since I know exactly how you feel, I work hard to make you relax. We talk the whole time. An engagement session is such a great tool to prepare you for your wedding day. We get to know each other, and then at your wedding, you already know what to do. It goes so smoothly! I take a mixture of "smiling looking straight at the camera" poses as well as candid poses which are still heavily directed. It all works to make you look fabulous and natural.

Do you offer digital negatives in any of your collections?

Every collection comes with your high-res, edited digital files. You also receive a print release giving you permission to print and upload to social media. I always encourage my clients to think beyond having the pictures captured--think about how to display them. A wedding album is an archival piece of art which lasts a lifetime.

Do you offer albums/prints in any of your packages?

Yes! A wedding album is included in the Heirloom Collection but it may be added to any collection from the A La Carte menu. Anything chosen from that menu at the time of booking receives 10% off!

How long before I receive my photos after my wedding?

All digital files will be delivered within 4-6 weeks after your event once any balance is paid in full. You usually get your stuff sooner, unless it is peak wedding season (March/April, Oct/Nov). Albums and books are promised no later than six months after your event. All balances due on albums must be paid in full before order is placed.

Will we own the copyright to the images from our wedding?

I retain the copyright to all images that I take however, you will receive a personal print release to use the images for personal printing, social media, blogs, etc.

Any advice you can give me before my Big Day?

RELAX. Get a good night's sleep the night before (and don't drink too much alcohol! Hangovers are no fun). Eat something before the ceremony, and eat at your reception! Let your vendors do their jobs; they were hired to take care of everything and they do it very well. Your only job is to enjoy yourself, and the company of all your loved ones who gathered today to celebrate you and your spouse.
