Raina and Jose’s Fun Filled, Family DIY Backyard Wedding | San Antonio Wedding Photography

I don’t know how to get more weddings like this one, but I wish I knew. Raina and Jose have been together five years; their kids are best friends. They decided to officially tie the knot, and they wanted to do it during family vacation in one of their favorite destinations: Gruene, Texas. Gruene is a tiny little ‘burb nestled in New Braunfels, which definitely holds its own as a destination for fun (ever heard of Schlitterbahn??).

Raina and Jose rented a cottage at Gruene Homestead Inn for a week, then hauled furniture and decor from their home in Dallas, bought Rudy’s BBQ, a cake from HEB, made darling burlap bouquets, strung lights and had 20 of their closest friends and family join them. Gorgeous floral arrangements by Petals to Go. It was awesome!  The girls both sang love songs to their parents during the ceremony, and Raina and Jose cried through the whole thing. I was crying, too! I think you’ll see from the pictures how cool this family is. I was delighted to find out Jose actually lived in my hometown for a season during his service in the Air Force! His folks settled in Quitman, GA, which is 30 minutes from my home. I joked that when I get to Quitman, the gas pedal goes all the way to the floor as I’m in the home stretch after a 15-hour drive from Texas.

Congrats, Raina and Jose!
