Hannah and Jade are dancing in Ballet New Braunfels’ annual Christmas production of “The Nutcracker” this weekend. Neither of them have ever been in it before. As a kid, I had a friend named Jeannie who was a mouse one year in the ballet. Every time I played at her house, I’d put on that mouse costume. Well, Jade was a mouse! Hannah played a toy soldier. Esther and Cristina, co-directors of Ballet New Braunfels, did a great job. It was marvelous!
My sisters-in-law, Bess and Jessica, did the girls’ hair and makeup. Thanks a million!!
Hannah’s good friend Jordan played Uncle Drosselmeyer. Jordan is a senior at Canyon High School, a talented actor and member of CHS Little Theatre Company.
Jade, creeping onstage with all the other mice.
My one good shot of Hannah, except oh yeah–the trumpet’s in her face. Sigh…..
Jade was a fierce mouse.
So technically we weren’t allowed downstairs in the dressing room, but Jade happened to pop upstairs for a moment. I begged her to get Hannah so I could get one picture of them together in costume.
The grand finale.
Congratulations, girls! You were magnificent.
