Food photography is one of my favorite kinds of photography. Colorful, healthy, delicious food plated and arranged to create a feast for the eyes as well as the mouth…it is so much fun to photograph.
Summertime is my slow season for social and corporate event photography. My good friend Phanny collaborated with me at her beautiful home to mess around in the kitchen and do some fun food stuff. We tried to keep it simple, and ended up shooting over two days. For our first course of delicious summer food, I wanted a vibrant fruit salad. Of course, we also needed fun summery cocktails, which in this case are actually mocktails. If you’re trying to be healthy and still want a fun, yummy beverage, kombucha mixed with Topo Chico is a great drink. All the bubbles and none of the guilt!
We threw in wings as a “hey, should we do some wings?” idea, and it ended up being the most delicious thing Phanny made. Sauteed garlic, shallots and jalapenos perfectly complemented these tasty flats. For dessert, nothing’s better on a hot summer day than a cold sorbet. We tried mango and dragonfruit flavors. Wow!
Our second day of shooting was a little rainy, so we stayed indoors and had fun making traditional steak with chimichurri and risotto. My husband greatly appreciated the leftovers I brought home.
Enjoy the photos! I think we’ll be playing around with this to see what inspires us. Happy summer, y’all!
