Krystal and Tony’s wedding is right around the corner, and I cannot WAIT. I don’t want to call them over achievers, but she’s wrapping up dental school and job-hunting while he’s a busy accountant, and it was a little bit of miracle to reschedule their engagement session due to rain. But we did it!! And I am thrilled. Flexibility is always key when planning a wedding, and especially during the day of your wedding. They totally trusted me to wait a couple of days for better weather, which means better lighting, which means better portraits! Hardberger Park is a terrific, terrific place for portraits, especially at “the golden hour.” Yes there were tons of people, but it’s a pretty big park, so you can always find space that looks like you’re the only ones there.
I freaked out when they arrived because I loved Krystal’s dress so much. Wow! She is originally from Liberia, and her dad had gotten her this custom-made dress with African fabric. Where can I get one?! It was so bright and colorful. And it set off her yellow diamond engagement so well! I love how unique her ring is. Tony hails from the city of Brotherly Love, and all I can say is, I am definitely throwin’ down on the dance floor when “Motown Philly” plays.
I knew their pictures would be amazing. My only instruction to them was to focus on each other and enjoy this time together. If you want magical portraits, then don’t think about where to stand or what to do with your hands–I’ll tell you! Instead, focus on that person in front of you who’s inspired you to risk everything and settle down once and for all, for keeps! They laughed and did exactly that. Boom! Wedding day, here we come!
