Lauren is one of my good friends, and a rockstar wedding planner. She is co-owner of Eclipse Event Co. with Kristi DePew. We got together on a sunny November afternoon for a family portrait session for Christmas cards. Be prepared: you may suffer a heart attack from how darn cute Lauren and Rob’s twins are! Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Lacey and Logan are almost three years old and utterly adorable. I don’t know who’s bossing who; as we whooped and hollered and sang at these babies to look towards the camera, I couldn’t help thinking I’M the dancing monkey. =) Family and children portrait photography is definitely different from weddings! But oh, my heart! You get priceless, priceless images to last for generations.
Tips for family portraits: pick two or three colors for outfits. Lauren chose Lacey’s outfit which had the busiest print and went from there. Everything goes together but isn’t matchy-matchy. I could learn a thing or two from her! Another piece of advice, relax and don’t worry if your kids don’t act the way you hope. Listen to your friendly photographer and let her boss you around. You’ll be surprised and thrilled to see how beautifully your family turns out in photographs, despite how hectic you may feel your session went. Third tip: if bringing your sweet doggie, do have a water bowl on hand for hydration, and treats to reward him when he obeys your commands. I can’t say whether you should bring treats for your kids; that is totally up to you! =)
