We did Megan and Ryan’s combined engagement session and family portraits last fall at Bull Creek in north Austin. Megan would fly in from time to time from Durham, North Carolina, where she is finishing her medical residency. Ryan is a practicing surgeon here in Austin. He has the two sweetest boys, Sammy, age 12, and little Callum, who is 4. They had a terrific wedding this past February, which you can see here. It can be challenging, putting together a portrait session, much less a wedding, when you don’t live in the same state or time zone. But this is one power couple, lemme tell you. It was a joy to get to know them, and their boys. I’ll never forget singing at the top of my lungs, “Everything is awesome!” because that’s how I could keep Callum not only focused, but happy and smiling. And it actually made us all laugh, which was a bonus. I love incorporating kiddos when you are making a blended family. It’s really special to me because I have the same kind of story when I got married again in 2007. Thank you, Megan and Ryan, for trusting me to photograph your amazing family.
