Ellie’s bat mitzvah was so much fun! We met at Congregation Agudas Achim for family portraits in the morning, and then later at The Gather Venue on North Lamar for her party. Jessica with EventfullATX did an amazing job creating a fairytale inspired party based on Ellie’s favorite book, Ella Enchanted. The Gather Venue was the perfect place, lending a unique backdrop with its iconic mural wall and lots of space for dancing, dining and celebrating this special young lady. Ellie’s aunt provided hundreds of origami butterflies, definitely a labor of love for the decor. Texas Pro DJ did a great job sponsoring a crazy fun twist on dancing–a silent disco! I’ve seen it on TV but never in real life until now. Everyone split into two groups according to the channel they chose on their headsets. Soon, everyone was singing along while the rest of us non-headset-wearing folk were highly entertained since we couldn’t hear the music. Kids enjoyed Krispy Kreme doughnuts, a photobooth and dance battle against the adults. My favorite part was Ellie’s parents singing her a song they composed themselves, celebrating all the things they love about her. It was a honor and so much fun being part of this bat mitzvah. Mazel tov, Ellie! You are an amazing young lady.
