Kira’s Bat Mitzvah

Kira is the most amazing young woman. Sweet natured and self-possessed, we met early in the morning at CBI before her ceremony, darting through the drizzling rain of a cool spring day for family portraits. Usually I have no more than immediate family and perhaps grandparents for synagogue portraits. This time we had the entire family, from LA to Brooklyn! It was wonderful having so many excited, happy people together.

Kira’s party was later that evening at the Sheraton Austin Hotel downtown. Adults enjoyed cocktails while the kiddos played foosball, pingpong, vintage arcade games and jumped in The Traveling Photobooth. I sneaked Kira out on the deck overlooking downtown Austin for some quick sunset photos while dinner was being served. Kira’s mom did an amazing job performing a rap song she’d written for her (it’s a family tradition) and everyone enjoyed getting down to Texas Pro DJ’s jams–even Grandpa! Guests enjoyed scrumptious treats from The Cupcake Bar and a late-night ice cream station, too.

Mazel tov, Kira! You crushed it!
