This was a bittersweet portrait session for me. I’m just thankful we even made it happen! Kiki and her family are moving to Virginia Beach, and I was scheduled for ACL replacement surgery. It’s a miracle we found a day to make this portrait session. Kiki is a friend from CrossFit; both she and Mike are members there. Kiki told me they always knew they’d only be in Texas for a year (Mike is a Navy man). She had warned everyone at the gym, “We’re only here for a year, so don’t fall in love with me!”
Well Kiki, it’s too late. I loved working out with you, and I absolutely love your family. As soon as I saw Tori strolling down the sidewalk in her flaming pink cowgirl hat and green heart-shaped sunglasses, I was a goner. And Nox! Oh what a biscuit. It was around 105 degrees the day we took these portraits at a Longhorn mural in Cedar Park, but everyone had a blast. It was so much fun. Kiki wanted “Texas portraits” to celebrate their time living here, and she got it. I will miss them so much.
