Part of the joy of being a wedding and event photographer is that sometimes, a fellow colleague reaches out so you can be a part of their special love story, too. Justin and Jordan have been a happy couple for a few years now, and Justin decided it was time to Ask the Big Question. It was so much fun watching him ask his friends to help: Jordan’s good friend Lindsey coordinated the whole thing, even tricking Jordan into meeting her at Mattie’s (formerly Green Pastures) for a birthday celebration. Justin borrowed Lindsey’s husband’s jacket to look as nice as possible (thanks, David!) and Chelsey and friends lurked behind the hedges to video the whole thing. Marcela of Malleret Designs not only provided the rose petals for the circle, but whipped up the sweetest bouquet as a gift for Jordan. True to character, since we’re all in the business of pulling off weddings and events, we ran a couple of dress rehearsals just to be sure everyone knew his place!!
Jordan was absolutely surprised, and it was just really special to not only witness this moment in their lives, but to preserve it for them forever. We had a celebratory drink in the upstairs bar at Mattie’s after. If you’ve never checked out this gem tucked away at the edge of downtown Austin, you really should! Not only is it perfect for weddings and events, it’s a terrific place for a nice dinner out with friends or that special someone.
